It's Post-NYE and I'm feeling... good. In fact, really good.
This is new for me.
I've truly never been a heavy drinker (unless I'm out with the girls), but for NYE I tend to over-do it with the champagne. Thus resulting in spending my entire first day of the new year regrettably wasting away on the couch with a massive headache while raiding my kitchen like a ravenous bear fueling up for long winter nights.
Well this year is different. And it's all thanks to Hard Kombucha.
In case you don't know what Kombucha is, it's a fizzy beverage produced by fermenting tea and sugar with a living culture called a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). As a fermented beverage, regular Kombucha naturally contains about 0.5% alcohol. Besides the light "buzz" you might experience while drinking Kombucha, especially on an empty stomach, its vinegary, bitter taste has gained so much popularity due to its array of gut-health benefits from the living probiotics it contains.
Now when you add Hard in front of the word Kombucha, this means that the amount of naturally occurring alcohol is at a higher percentage. Since it’s the yeast that does the work of creating the alcohol, and yeast needs a good supply of sugar to work, both of these ingredients are added in larger quantities in order to get a significant increase in alcohol content during the second fermentation process. Hard Kombucha typically contains about 4.5% alcohol, which is the equivalent of a light beer.
Imagine drinking a Kombucha or a Hard Kombucha at the next party you attend, instead of beer or hard alcohol. You'll not only get a bit of a buzz, but you'll get all the healthy gut-benefits too. And BONUS! Most Kombucha brands are gluten-free, vegan and contain very little sugar. I'll cheers to that!
Hope you all had a wonderful NYE!
I'm ready to kick ass in 2019. Are you??
