HOW TO BALANCE HORMONES (PART 2)

To maintain hormonal balance, we must first understand where hormones come from, what they are, and what symptoms to look out for.

It's important to remember that hormones are on our side!! Their sole purpose is to ensure that our body is and remains balanced.

WHERE DO HORMONES COME FROM??

Hormones stem from our endocrine glands. There are quite a few of these glands.. they are the hypothalamus, pineal, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenal, pancreas, ovaries, and testes. These endocrine gland’s are responsible for producing different types of hormones that bring on a specific response in other cells, tissues, and organs throughout our body.

This is the cool part.. our hormones actually use our blood stream to deliver messages to cells. *MIND BLOWN*

OKAY COOL, BUT WHAT ARE HORMONES??

Hormones are chemical substances that affect the activity of another part of the body. They deliver messages ~via blood vessels~ that tell our organs what to do and when to do it.

HORMONES REGULATE:

-metabolism and appetite

-heart rate

-sleep cycles

-reproductive cycles and sexual function

-general growth and development

-mood and stress levels

-body temperature

So if hormones control the function of ENTIRE organs, what happens when they're imbalanced??

This happens when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream.

SYMPTOMS OF HORMONAL IMBALANCE:

Keep in mind, this depends on which glands and hormones are affected.

-cystic/acne located on the chin, jawline or neck area

-unexplained weight gain or weight loss

-unexplained or excessive sweating

-difficulty sleeping

-changes in sensitivity to cold and heat

-very dry skin or skin rashes

-changes in blood pressure

-changes in heart rate

-brittle or weak bones

-changes in blood sugar concentration

-irritability and anxiety

-unexplained and long-term fatigue

-increased thirst

-depression

-headaches

-needing to go to the bathroom more or less than usual

-bloating

-changes in appetite

-reduced sex drive

-thinning, brittle hair

-infertility

-puffy face

-blurred vision

-a bulge in the neck

-breast tenderness

-deepening of the voice in females

It's important to note that skincare breakouts are a SYMPTOM of hormonal imbalances. A symptom is literally a message from your internals telling you that your system is out of whack. So listen and pay attention to your body!

It's also important to note that if you have one or more of these symptoms {and I feel like most of us at some point have or have had one or more of these symptoms} it could mean that something else is going on besides a hormonal imbalance. Always speak with your doctor first before self-diagnosing and self-treating.

->STAY TUNED! How to remedy hormonal imbalances naturally will be on Part 3.
